Janis M Lee's Obituary
Jan Marie Lee (nee Anderson) of Quincy, FL, passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2022 with family by her side.
Jan is survived by her husband Dexter Lee, to whom she has been married since 1998. She is also survived by her mother- and father-in-law, Evelyn and Roy Lee; her sister-in-law, Wauneka Lee; nephews Marcus Fisher and Renardus Brown; her daughters, Nicole Tanata (Bob) and Nancy Caine (Peter Grimes); her grandchildren, Kayla Harrison, Justin Caine, Jacob Tanata, and Philip Tanata; her great-grandchildren, Ellie and Nora Harrison; her sisters, Barb Higginbotham and Deb Bakken (Dennis); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Norma Anderson; her son, David Caine; and her brother, Larry Anderson.
She was born in Council Grove, KS, and grew up in Minnewaukan, ND. Although she lived in many different places (North Dakota and Florida mostly), it was the mountains of Montana that she connected with most.
Jan considered herself first and foremost an artist. She was self-taught and earth-inspired, painting nature scenes on everything from walls to wooden planks to buffalo skulls–her favorite! She was a free thinker and a radical individual. Her favorite quote, taken right from her FB page, summarizes her life beautifully: “I walked a mile in your shoes, and I still prefer to go barefoot.”
Please share your photos and memories of Jan to complete this tribute.
No service is planned at this time, but her wish was for her ashes to be scattered in several locations.
