Bob Coutré
I am very sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. My sincere condolences to his family. I worked with Jim from 1986 to 1990 at Municipal Code Corporation, in Tallahassee, Florida. We went to lunch together probably more than a hundred times. In one of our first ever conversations, he recommended that I read Thomas Paine’s book The Age of Reason, which I immediately read. It was the starter for dozens of conversations on all kinds of political, social, and philosophical topics. Jim was a unique thinking man who truly valued deeper reasoning and thoughtfulness. We also talked a lot about computers. Jim and I were both early adopters of PCs and early software programs in the 1980s, and we often compared notes on features and specifications. I helped Jim move to a new apartment once, and he provided the beer and lots of great food. We had a good time. I value and cherish the memory of our friendship in those years, our deep discussions as well as our many casual conversations about this and that. Jim was always a great human being to hang out with and talk to. Rest in Peace old friend.
