James Geno Ciotti's Obituary
James Geno Ciotti, 82, of Tallahassee Florida, passed away at home on November 18, 2025.
Jim had an indomitable and adventuresome spirit. After college, he joined the Peace Corps. That experience triggered his life- long passion for travel and other cultures. Following the Peace Corps Jim obtained his M.S. in social work from Western Michigan University, and a PH. D in political science from FSU. He worked as a social worker in Michigan, administrator in the Governor’s Office in South Carolina, an administrator in Florida’s community mental health system and taught political science at FSU and Barry University. Many hobbies gave him great joy, including cooking, photography and hanging out with his coffee buddies.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Swerlick, his children Megan Ciotti, Louise Ciotti Hayles, Benjamin Ciotti, six grandchildren, all living in England, and his mother, Anne Ciotti. He was preceded in death by his father Geno Ciotti of Detroit, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Jim can be made to Big Bend Hospice or a charity of your choice.
