James Rufus "Jim" Bryan's Obituary
James Rufus "Jim" Bryan, 90 years old met his savior peacefully at his home, July 19, 2023 after a long illness.
He was born Sept. 10, 1932 in Cusman, Arkansas, but being in a Navy family, he grew up in Plant City, FL. He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy for over 3 years and was in the Korean Conflict serving on the U.S.S. Rogers. After his Naval service he was a general contractor for General Building Maintenance for over 20 years in Benton Harbor MI.
Jim came to Carrabelle with his wife, Darlene who he married on Oct 11, 1989. He loved his wife, family, fishing and his home. Also, he was a proud member of First Baptist Church of Carrabelle. He was an active member of the Carrabelle Airport Authority, and will be remembered for his years of service in the Carrabelle Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Darlene Bryan of Carrabelle and 2 sons, Brad Bryan of Michigan and Rodney Bigelow of Wimaua, Fl. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly and two deceased daughters, Vickie and Denise. He has seven Grandchildren: Jamie and wife, Kelley Popke, Jacob and wife, Kayle Scott, Nicholas Scott, Ross and wife, Jennifer Bryan, Ben and wife, Tiffany Bryan, Nathan and Tori Bran, and Bradley Scott Bryan. He has 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church of Carrabelle on Aug. 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to First Baptist Church of Carrabelle, P. O. Box 768, Carrabelle, FL 32322. A Committal service will be held at the Tallahassee National Cemetery at a later date.
