Helen K Hagan's Obituary
Helen Marie Kiernan Hagan, 99, of Tallahassee, passed away on September 27th, 2021 from complications due to Covid.
Helen was born in New York, New York on August 25th, 1922 to John and Elsie Lipps Kiernan. She was raised in Westwood and Teaneck, NJ. Her parents died when she was a young child, and she and her sister Doris, were lovingly raised by their aunt and uncle, Mary and Harry Lane. She married Thomas J. Hagan in 1955 and had three children, Patricia, Thomas, Jr., and Timothy. She was especially proud of the accomplishments of her three children, all military veterans.
Helen lived in Tallahassee for the last 31 years and led a very active and productive life. She was active in the St. Catherine’s Circle at Blessed Sacrament Church, and also volunteered at Capital Regional Medical Center for over 25 years and was chosen CRMC’s Volunteer of the Year in 2005. Helen never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went. Always smiling, she had the sweetest disposition. She traveled throughout the United States and abroad, mainly with her dear friend, Betty Foltz, and had many exciting and funny stories to tell. She was her happiest when she was with her family and those of us left behind will miss her greatly.
She is survived by daughter, Patricia Hagan Kraft, son, Timothy P. Hagan , five beloved grandchildren: Jackie Hagan, Noelani Takayesu, Jeff Kraft, Lindsay Webb, and Matt Hagan, and six great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Hagan, Sr.; son, Thomas J Hagan, Jr.; and her sister, Doris Suman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Dec. 4, 2021 at 11am, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 624 Miccosukee Rd., Tallahassee, FL. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow the service (place to be determined).
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308 or bigbendhospice.org. Lifesong, 231 E. 6th Avenue in Tallahassee, is assisting the family with arrangements.
