Harry was truly a class act, definitely one of a kind, and a fun and mischievious great guy. The two things that everyone can agree on is that we are each a better person for having known Harry and experienced him in our lives, and he was truly a very special person. I do not know if Harry had more fun dissecting a truly awful case or being his inner child and truly enjoying a gun show - truly a kid in a candy store. I always felt like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn whenever Harry and Beth would come down to Key West to visit with Jack and Terri Spottswood, and Harry and I would slip off for a morning of flats fishing and an afternoon and evening of enjoying fresh seafood, great Cuban food, or even better drinks in any bar. No matter what, Harry could and would always make me laugh and enjoy life more, just from having been around him. I hope that he will be okay when I name my next bloodhound - Harry aka Dr. McClaren. If I am lucky, maybe that pooch will be my good friend, Harry, reincarnated. I do miss him. We all will miss him.
Truly a wonderful person and a great human being. I do not think that I have ever known
anyone who enjoyed life and the people around him better than Harry. He has been truly a blessing to everyone. I know that God will take good care of our good friend - Dr. McClaren.

Dear Sam and Beth,

I was heartily sorry to hear of the passing of Harry. He was a good friend to me, and I know how much he meant to y'all. I can honestly say, without reservation, that some of the most fun times of my life were shared with my buddy Harry.

I fondly remember fishing trips, hunting trips, pig roasts as well as the occasional meetings involving CEU presentations, professional meetings, and various social gatherings with colleagues. Although the three latter activities may have started out as serious endeavors, Dr. McClaren and I would always find a way to somehow shorten the serious part and steer the activity towards a much more enjoyable direction.

I'm going to miss "the Chief." I must confess that I wasn't ready for this. I've had to continue my daily activities, but it has been with the constant realization of the tragic loss of an old and dear friend. I think we can all take comfort in the fact that Harry really enjoyed life. More importantly, I think Harry got as much or more enjoyment from helping and entertaining others, as did the beneficiaries of his actions.

Shelby, my daughter, and Sam have been dating for over two years. When I met Harry, it was so obvious how much he loved Sam. You could see the caring and pride in his eyes. Harry seemed like such a genuine person; full of life and with a great sense of humor. Shelby just adored him and would sometimes share sweet "Harry" stories with me. The minute I saw Harry I thought to myself how much he and Sam looked alike.

I am so sorry for your loss. My husband and I pray for some peace and comfort for Sam, Mrs. McClaren and the rest of Harry's family. Our hearts are heavy.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and Harry.
