During the early eightees, Gladys and I used to work at the Division of Worker's Compensation, as WC Specialists. Her arrival was an answer to my prayers. I was the only Spanish - speaking person, and there were a lot of incoming calls and claims, involving Spanish - speaking people.
As I was showing Gladys a few things about our job, I found myself learning from her.
Gladys, or as I used to call her in Spanish: "Joven", which means "Young Woman", was intelligent, smart, quick thinker, great mental agility and very dedicated to her job. "Joven" was open-minded and eager to explore different angles. She was noble, fun to be with, friendly and caring.
Gladys had a white conga (percussion instrument), which I bought from her. Almost 40 years have gone by, and that white conga, is still making noise today. Every time I play it, it reminds me of my dear friend "Joven ".
Gladys ... as you enter your New Home in Heaven, you are blessed with eternal life, at the side of Our Lord and He will enjoy your lovely smile forever.
Hasta luego "Joven".
Andrés
