Gary Richard Stephenson's Obituary
Gary R. Stephenson (Sox), 84, died Friday, Sept 17th, in Tallahassee, Fl., of complications resulting from COVID-19. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Sarah; one son, Brandon, and grandchildren, Joshua, Haley, Brianna, Damien, Orion, Angel, and Alison.
Gary was born in St. Clair, Michigan to Simon and Grace Stephenson (now deceased). After being drafted into the Army he attended St, Clair County Community College and Michigan State University. He worked a variety of jobs, then spent 20 years as a Supervisor at Duke University. He retired in 2002 and moved his family to Monticello, Fl. He married Dorothy Hamilton in October of 1968.
Gary is also survived by his sister, Suzanne Stephenson of Durham, NC; his brother, Dr. Thomas Stephenson of Chapel Hill, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
Gary loved fishing, camping, hiking, carpentry, and Duke Basketball.
He will be missed by his family, his friends, and his dogs, Rosie and Brindy.
