Ethel “Lounette” Cowart Hall, 88, of Tallahassee, Fl and formerly of Colquitt, GA, passed away at her daughter’s home on May 17, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
Lounette was born April 11, 1937, in Boykin, GA to the late Lucille Tabb Cowart and Frederick Rudolph Cowart, Sr. She and her family settled in Tallahassee in 1963. She was a devoted member of Parkway Baptist Church for decades and most recently, of Morningside Church for several years. She grew up on a dairy farm in Colquitt, GA and after graduating high school, she attended nursing school at Charity Hospital Nursing School in New Orleans. She worked as a nurse at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for many years and found her passion working in home healthcare.
Lounette was a woman of unshakable faith, humble strength, and generous love. She was happiest when working in her yard or playing on the floor with her grandchildren. She loved the beach, watermelon, and black coffee. She adored her family, her friends, and her church fiercely. She was affectionately known as “Mamaw” to more than just her grandchildren. Her service never sought attention, but it left a lasting impact on countless lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Harriet Hall Oliff (Dave) of Tallahassee, FL; her son, Sidney Brooks Hall (Karen) of Monticello, FL; and her daughter, Susan Hall McKendree (Greg) of Tallahassee, FL. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Brandon Hall, Morgan Oliff, Andrew McKendree, Kaley Michels, Meredyth Normann, Madison Oliff, Kendall Curry, Mallory Oliff, Monroe Oliff, Courtney McKendree, Melanie Sheets, Dustin McKendree and Moriah Oliff, as well as 14 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Billy Hall, parents Lucille and Frederick Cowart, three brothers, James A. Cowart, Horace L. Cowart, Fredrick R.
