Elgin Freeman's Obituary
In loving memory of Wade "Elgin" Freeman, 76, of Tallahassee and born in Boston, GA, who passed away on February 28, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones and friends.
Elgin marched to the beat of his own drum and was a master of many things - he was a farmer, a creator and inventor, a web designer and artist, a stockbroker and a builder, and a helper to everyone in his community. Those who knew Elgin know that we’ve lost someone truly unique - he embodied clear headedness, pragmatism, generosity, gentleness, intelligence, and creativity all at once with grace, humor, and humility. He believed in ongoing forgiveness and chose to live in the present moment. Words can’t describe how much he will be missed - his laughter and endless love will be in our memories for life.
Elgin is survived by his life partner, Julie Rogers; his sisters Sybil Anderson and Betty Clark; his children Evan Freeman (partner Megan McGlinchy) and Alma Freeman (husband Emil Meek); granddaughter, Arden Meek; their mother and dear friend of Elgin, Rachel Freeman; and the many loving friends in his community.
Family and friends will soon be arranging a memorial in Tallahassee to celebrate Elgin’s life and all the ways he has touched our lives.
