Edward Dewayne Watson's Obituary
Edward Dewayne Watson, 67, received complete healing August 9, 2025.
He was born on February 26, 1958 to James Walter “J.W.” and Jewel Hobbs Watson of Juniper, FL. He graduated from Greensboro High School and married the love of his life in 1976.
Dewayne was preceded in death by his father and his baby brother, Lamar.
He is survived by his wife, Ginger, his son, Dewayne (Amanda Carraway-Kirkland), his daughter, DeLayne (Mark Todd), his mother, his sister, Rita, his brothers, Steve and Darell, his grandchildren, Emily and Raegan Todd, Trey (Emily), Alex, and Emory Watson, Landyn Kirkland, Logan Recoy and Caelyn Carraway, his great-grandchildren, Easton and Eliza Watson, Salem and Silas Simmons.
Dewayne retired from Florida Department of Corrections as Assistant Warden after 31 years of service. He wasn’t officially retired two months before he was bored and found a new job. Though, he would always say he didn’t consider it a job. It was playing for him. He loved him some Infinity, Little Cypress Preserves, and Jody Bunkley.
Dewayne was happiest when he was hunting with his family. Family vacation was two weeks of non-stop hunting. His love for his family was abundant and their love for him was returned 10 fold. You would always find him in the yard, at Papa’a Acres, building something for someone, or with his family.
Dewayne’s laugh was infectious, his heart was generous, and he left an impression of some sort on anyone who met him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Services for Dewayne will be held at Corinth Baptist Church in Hosford, FL on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 am, graveside to immediately follow at Good Hope Church Cemetery.
Lifesong Funeral Home in Quincy (lifesongfunerals.com) is assisting the Watson family with their arrangements.
