Donald William Brown's Obituary
Donald William Brown, 89, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday,
May 29, 2026.
Born in Waycross, Georgia on January 13, 1937, he was the son of the late James and
Nora Brown. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lamb Brown; his son,
Johnny Earl Hughes; his brothers, James David Brown, Carlton Brown, and Clyde Brown.
He joined the United States Air Force at an early age and was stationed in the Philippines. When he returned to the United States he moved with his family to the Tallahassee, Florida area. He worked many years as a body man at Sheffield’s Auto Repair, Courtesy Cars, Bill McKinney Chevrolet, and eventually opened and owned his own shop, Don’s Auto Repair.
Survivors include his sons, David L. Brown (Katherine), Doug Hughes (Patricia), Randy Hughes (Nicole); daughters, Pat Akins (Craig), and Wanda Shoemaker (Mike); nineteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Sherry Brown Thursby, as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2026, Bible Believers Fellowship Church, located at 6341 Blountstown Hwy., Tallahassee, Florida with visitation at 10am and the service at 11am.
