Dennis Joseph Govekar's Obituary
Dennis “DG” Joseph Govekar, age 72, of Tallahassee, passed away on August 13, 2022. Born in Miami, FL, Dennis attended Miami High School and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Business and Marketing. Throughout his life, Dennis was a dedicated Florida State Seminoles, Miami Dolphins and New York Yankees fan. He was a walking encyclopedia when it came to knowing all facts and stats about anything baseball. A knowledgeable US History enthusiast, Dennis was a man of many talents and interests, including grilling, wood working, Fantasy Football, and gardening.
He is survived by his partner, Elizabeth “Bess” Painter; daughters Kassie Darling (Jason) of Melbourne, FL; Kelly Govekar (Javier) of New York City; 5 grandchildren, Ethan, Graham, Luca, Wyatt and Isla, and large extended family. He is predeceased in death by his parents Agnes and Anthony Govekar, and brother Anthony “Tony” Govekar, Jr.
A visitation for friends and family will be held on Saturday, August 27, 10:00AM to 12:00PM, at Lifesong Funerals & Cremation, 20 S Duval St, Quincy, FL 32351.
In lieu of flowers, Dennis would encourage others to celebrate his life with a beer salute during the next Yankees game.
