Dave Sawyer 's Obituary
David "Dave" Allen Sawyer, of Tallahassee, 61, vigiantly fought and lost his battle with cancer on September 25, 2018.
Survivors include his wife Cheryl "Cher" Sawyer; mother Constance Epperson; siblings, Jen Sawyer and wife Jan Prewitt; Rick Sawyer and wife Terri, and Geoffrey Thaw; children, Eve Patterson, Tom Sawyer, David, Jr., Kelly Woodard; and a host of relatives including his nephew's and grandchildren whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Sawyer.
Dave was born July 27, 1957 in Hialeah, FL. He worked for Charles W. Roberts, whom he fondly called "Chief" for 17 years. A man's man of numerous talents, Dave was best known as a Master Woodworker. His outstanding work has covered the entire panhandle as well as South Florida. He was creative, a visionary and often figured out 'how' when others couldn't. He was a hardworking man with strong convictions and strived for perfection, pride, truth, resolve and strength. Often seen as a "hot head", "potty mouth" and a "road rager with a lead foot", it was these traits that will be remembered with a smile, as everyone knew Dave had a good heart.
At his request, no services are planned. A private celebration of Dave's life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made on Dave's behalf to Big Bend Hospice, the real angels we'll never forget. Tholley Taylor of Lifesong (850.627.1111) is assisting the family with arrangements.
