I enjoyed a forty-nine year long relationship with my Sister in Law Claudia Harvard. She was a good wife, mother, nurse and friend to me. Claudia was a loving sister to my wife, Wendi.

While Claudia was serving as a WAC in the US Army she met and married Edwin Lugo at the age of 19 and 18 respectively. They settled in Decatur, Il and had two beautiful daughters, Jeanette and Cynthia. I knew them as children and enjoyed watching them grow into beautiful young women.

Claudia dealt with life's many challenges as best she could.

She married George Harvard, her forever mate, and shared her life, love and devotion with him until her recent passing.

Claudia was a GIFT to all who knew her and loved her. She goes with God, as we cherish the memories of our time with her.

Claudia June Harvard, nee Nixon, was born January 4, 1947 in St. Paul, MN to Marjeanne and Lincoln (Nick) Nixon. After the death of her high school boyfriend in Vietnam, Claudia joined the US Army with the ultimate goal of becoming an Army nurse. She wanted only to provide help and kindness to the young men like the one she lost. After surviving a brutal assault during basic training, Claudia was granted an honorable discharge, having served only one year.

After leaving the Army she married Edwin Lugo and, two years later, birthed the first of their two daughters. She was a stay at home mother in poverty, so those days were filled with visits to the local parks and libraries. She became a licensed Red Cross swimming instructor so that her girls could take the classes for free. She attended nursing school once her daughters were in school, and became a Licensed Practical Nurse, her vocation until retirement.

After a brief marriage to Kenneth Ray Alley, a true bastard, she spent the last 25+ years with the love of her life, George Harvard.

She is survived by her husband George, niece and caretaker Jennifer Harvard, her daughter Cynthia, sisters Wendi and Linda, and brother Eric.
