Cindy Markert's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Cindy Charity Milner Markert
July 20, 1957 – July 26, 2025
Cindy Charity Milner was born on July 20, 1957, in Long Beach, California, to Kenneth and Agnes Miller. The fifth of eight children, Cindy grew up surrounded by a large and passionate family, including six sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her younger sister, Sherry; and her older brother, Kenneth Jr., who passed away in infancy. She is survived by her beloved sisters: Priscilla, Joanne, Suzie, Teresa, and Jackie.
After graduating from high school, Cindy was introduced—through one of her sisters—to the man who would become her first husband, Jim. She moved from Southern California to Atlanta, Georgia, where the two married and raised a large family of their own. Cindy was the fiercely devoted mother of eight children: Leah, Faith, Tommy, Teresa, Amy, Jonathan, Mary Agnes, and Catherine Rose—all of whom survive her and carry forward her legacy of fierce strength and passion.
Following her divorce in 2001, Cindy married Sven Markert, with whom she shared a deep and unwavering devotion until her passing. She became stepmother to Sven’s three children from his first marriage: Anastasia, Olivia, and Alexander.
Cindy’s life was defined by passionate love- for her family, and for her faith. She had a vibrant spirit and an intense love for the arts, especially theater and musical productions. Her enthusiasm for Broadway shows, music, and drama was inherited from her parents and became a cherished family tradition that she lovingly passed on to her children.
Raised in the Catholic faith, Cindy experienced a period of spiritual wandering in her early adulthood. In her late 20s, however, she rediscovered her faith, which became the foundation of her life and identity. From that point forward, Cindy lived as a deeply committed Catholic. She had an abiding love for Jesus Christ, whom she considered her greatest love and ultimate truth. Her days were marked by a fervent spiritual life—attending daily Mass, praying the Rosary, spending time in Adoration, and reading spiritual literature. Her faith was not passive; it was a relentless and heartfelt pursuit of Truth, one she believed would ultimately set all people free.
Now, having completed her earthly journey, Cindy has found the Truth in all His glory. She passes into the loving embrace of her eternal spouse—her Beloved, her Savior, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Her long search for truth and peace has found its final home. She is free.
The funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025, 11 A.M. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 4665 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32309. Ms. Markert will be interred in Roselawn Cemetery, with immediate family members and close friends in attendance.
