Christie Sue Chason's Obituary
Christie Sue Pearce Chason, age 83, of Tallahassee, Florida passed away August
27, 2023.
She was born April 3, 1940, in Columbus, Georgia. She was a 1958 graduate of Columbus High School and continued her studies at Georgia Southwestern College until she met and married her husband of 50 years, John Howard Chason, Jr. on January 28, 1962. Sue was a Wife, Mother, Grandma and Mimi who loved her family with all her heart and soul. She loved to travel, especially her cruises! If it involved oceans, beaches, and sun she was on board. She also loved watching her children and grandchildren at sporting events and dance recitals.
She was employed by the Leon County School Board, retiring as the Principal’s Secretary at Leon High School. She LOVED her Leon Lions. She was known to be the “Second Mother” to many students that attended Leon. Known as “Mama Chason”, she would give to these students unselfishly, providing lunch money, giving life advice, and even hugs when needed.
Sue is survived by her son, John Chason, III (Lisa), daughter, Debra Dawson (Steve), five grandchildren, Lindsay Murrell (Greg), Daniel Chason (Britany), Connor Chason, Jeffrey Dawson (Summer), and Christopher Dawson, five great grandchildren, Emilia Murrell, Madeline Murrell, Camden Murrell, Wyatt Chason, and Hunter Nichols. Also, her sister-in-law, Mildred Bunton, niece, Nancy McKee (Pat), nephews Dean Bunton (Karen), Greg Bunton, and great nephews, great nieces and cousins.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband, John Howard Chason, Jr., her father, Marion George Pearce, Sr., mother, Minnie Amelia Pearce, brother, Marion George Pearce, Jr., sister-in-law, Wanda Pearce Geiger, brother-in-law, Ray Bunton, and nephew, Marion George Pearce, III.

The family will hold a private memorial based on her wishes.
