Charles J King's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that the family of Charles J King announces his passing on October 6, 2021, at the age of 87. At the time of his death, he was a patient of Centre Point Rehab and Nursing and had lived there for 3 years. The staff always joked with Charles and called him “Doctor” because he was a pharmacist and knew about all the medicines and what they were for.
Charles was born in Bascom, Florida on April 16, 1934. He is the son of the late J D King and Clarice Wilson King and was loved deeply by all of his siblings, including his older sister, the late Lillian Sasnett, Louise Yatauro (Pat), Patricia Hunter (Phil), and his only brother, Wayne King (Deborah).
Charles was blessed with a great voice and during high school, he became part of a Quartet that sang Gospel songs. He also sang at weddings.
Charles graduated from Chipola Junior College in 1954 and transferred to Auburn University where he received his degree in Pharmacy.
Charles loved traveling and seeing many parts of the world, and he was able to do this when he was drafted into the US Army, where he served two years. When he came home on leave, he had many stories and pictures to share with his family.
He began his career as a pharmacist in Columbus, Georgia. He then moved to Miami, Florida and after several years was able to purchase and run his own pharmacy. He eventually retired in Tallahassee.
Upon retirement, Charles spent a lot of time with his sister, Lillian, who also lived in Tallahassee. They loved visiting with each other, dining out at their favorite restaurants, and going to the movies. Charles and his family were very close and the entire family enjoyed the times when all of them could be together.
There will not be a memorial service, but his immediate family will get together later to celebrate his life.
