We met Carol and Jim soon as meeting David and Sheree Porter in 1980. Our families celebrated many holidays and birthdays together. We visited Carol at Cattail Creek and could see why she and Jim loved the area. My kids think of Pema as their own grandma. We will miss Pema/Carol.
When I was a child, I remember having a hard time keeping her four boys' names straight because they all started with a "D!" She would tell me special things about each one to help me tell them apart. As an adult, I loved visiting her and Uncle James in Cattail Creek in the North Carolina mountains. Spending time with them was a simple pleasure! Aunt Carole was such a positive and special person! My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
