Carol JoAnne Goodman 's Obituary
Carol JoAnne Goodman (ne Crowel), age 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Tallahassee, FL on October 8, 2017, surrounded by her family.
JoAnne, as she was known in her hometown of Bremen, IN, was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Myers (ne Sibert), her older sister, Joyce Sahloff and her youngest sister, Luetta Myers. Her surviving siblings include sisters Patricia Oberly (husband William) of Sacramento, CA, Violet Vollrath-Davis of Plymouth, IN, and brothers John Myers (wife Mary) of Lynchburg, VA and Kenneth Crowel. She enjoyed extensive travels (courtesy of the US Airforce)with first husband Joseph Eaglebarger, settling in Marin County, CA. where she made a career at Marin General Hospital and raised her 3 daughters: Vickie Goodman of Tallahassee, FL., Pamela Martin of Seattle, WA. , and Deborah Eaglebarger of Tallahassee, FL.
Because of her notorious pet parrot, she was called “Grandma Polly” by her 7 grandchildren (Erin Eaglebarger, Bonnie Martin, Jessica Goodman-Taylor-Pitts, Geoff Dulebohn, Justin Goodman-Taylor, Paula Martin and Rudy Martin)and loved extended sleepovers and vacations as they grew up and dispersed around the country. Relocating to Tallahassee with her oldest daughter Vickie in 1992, she became “Gigi” to her 12 great-grandchildren, spoiling them at every opportunity. Whether near or far, all were dear to her heart.
Whether JoAnne, Mom, Grandma Polly or Gigi, Carol JoAnne Goodman will be fondly remembered for her brash mouth, big earrings and a woman with a hat for every occasion. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial gift to Big Bend Hospice (1723 Mahan Center Blvd.,m Tallahassee,FL 32308; www.bigbendhospice.org) or donate to a charity of your choice in her name.
