Carleen Pruyn's Obituary
On August 17, 2023, the world lost an incredibly special person. Carleen Gail Pruyn was born on June 16, 1954, to Walter and Gail Allen while stationed in Baumholder, Germany. Carleen had the privilege of living in many locations while growing up. The Allen family decided to make Tallahassee their home after Walter’s retirement from the service.
Carleen attended school in Tallahassee, graduating from James Rickards High School in 1972 and Florida State University in December of 1983. After graduation, Carleen traveled within the United States working with organizations caring for people with health issues.
Upon her return to Tallahassee, Carleen met Bob Pruyn and they settled into a happy life together. Carleen had many interests, among them, caring for their pets, continuing to care for people with health issues, and her involvement with her church. Her compassion for others is what set her apart.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Robert Pruyn; her brother, Carl Allen (Marcia); her sister-in-law, Joanne Boggus (Zell); four nephews, Seth Allen (Miranda), Sean Allen (Shannon), and Zell and Michael Boggus; and her great-nephew, Grant.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Unity Eastside Church, 8551 Buck Lake Rd. 32317. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to a charity of your choice, that exemplifies her giving spirit.
