Beverly Losada Danello's Obituary
Beverly Ann Losada Danello, 84, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023, after prolonged suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Lawrence, and children Mark Lawrence (and Karen Danello), Lori Rae (and David Roberts), Christopher Dominic (and Evie Stewart), and Maggie Lynn (and Dan Held). She is additionally survived by her five grandchildren Sarah Danelle, Eliza Lynn, Sophie Laurel, Tèa Cassidy, and Boston D’Anello, plus beloved nieces and nephews. Bev was preceded by her father and mother, Albino and Margaret Losada, and her dear sister, Dorothy Losada Woods.
Bev was born on September 2, 1939, to Albino and Margaret Losada in Beaver, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Beaver Area High School in 1957. In her senior year of high school, she was set up on a blind date with the man she ended up spending the rest of her life with. After graduation, she attended Slippery Rock Teachers College, majoring in elementary education. On June 10, 1961, she married the love of her life, “Larry,” and immediately following their nuptials in Beaver, the two honeymooned via Route 66 on their way to a new life in California. In 1963, Larry and Bev and their young son moved to Florida, where two more children were born, and to Tallahassee in 1970, where their fourth child was born. After one year of teaching in Orlando, Bev decided to stay home to raise their four children. Once the children were all in school, Bev returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher. Many times Bev had the opportunity to teach her own children, which typically resulted in laughter around that night’s dinner table. After her teaching days, Bev worked in administration at the State of Florida Division of Recreation and Parks, where she found lifelong friendships.
One of Bev’s numerous talents was sewing. She made everything from prom dresses for the girls to leisure suits for the boys and shared her talents with the Young Actors Theatre and Leon High School Chorus costume departments. Bev was the first official costume chairwoman (along with friend and co-chair Beth Price) at Young Actors. Bev had various interests and talents that made her always fun to be with and interesting to talk to. Bev gave of her smile willingly and her heart freely. She also freely served her special manicotti, gnocchi, and meatballs to anyone who came through the door. Bev was a talented baker of pies and cakes—and was particularly known for her lemon meringue pies.
Bev and Larry had a long, happy life together and were married for 62 years. In their retirement, they delighted in traveling, fishing on Lake McBride, and watching their grandchildren flourish. As a mother, Bev was always there for her children, from typing term papers to baking cookies for fund-raisers. Her children and grandchildren feel incredibly blessed to have had her love, devotion, and never-ending support. Bev’s entire family is grateful for the loving care she received in her final years at Tapestry Senior Living on Lakeshore.
The memorial service will be Monday, September 25, 2023, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends and celebrate Bev's life in the Parish Hall immediately following the service. Please join us for Bev’s recipes of manicotti and lemon meringue pie. In lieu of flowers, friends and family can donate to the Young Actors Theatre costume department, where Bev’s memory will be honored through scholarships for students’ costumes.
