Betty A. Howell's Obituary
Betty A. Howell, 82, of Sneads, Florida, passed away October 22, 2025, at her daughter’s residence under the care of Vitas Hospice. She was born February 3, 1943, in Gadsden County, Florida to Miles and Nellie Goodson Potter.
Ms. Howell was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Carl Howell; siblings, Johnny Potter, Buddy Potter, Clara Cheek, Maggie Larys, Sarah Thrash, Benjamin (Peanut) Potter, Donald (Shot) Potter, Ellen Harrison and Randal Potter.
She is survived by her daughter, Carla Barber; her son and daughter-in-law, James and Stacee Howell; granddaughter, Mallory Howell; grandson, Jarrett Barber; sister, “Bit” Curlee; sister-in-law, Brenda Potter; “adopted” daughter, Jackie Lawrence; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives.
Ms. Howell’s family would like to offer a special thank you to Ray and Margie Henley for their love and support.
Ms. Howell was deep rooted in her faith and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Quincy, Florida. She was a hard worker, employed for forty years with the Department of Corrections as a classification sentence specialist. In her free time, she loved to cook and was a great one. She also loved to fish and travel, with her favorite mode of travel, cruises. She and family members enjoyed a cruise to Cozumel in September 2024, which was Ms. Howell’s last one. Ms. Howell was a loving mother who adored her children and grandchildren. Spending time with friends and family was one of her great joys. In her later years, she enjoyed word find puzzles. She never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone in any way that she could.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ms. Howell will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2 P.M. EST at Calvary Baptist Church, 5924 Memorial Blue Star Highway, Chattahoochee, Florida with Brother Glenn Whiddon officiating.
