Bernice "Joyce" Baker's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joyce Bernice Baker, a beloved mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
Joyce was born on November 5, 1937, and throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many with her
unwavering faith, kindness, and love. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Leon Baker; her cherished sister, Francis Poka; and her loving parents, William and Ruth McBrayer. She is survived by 6 of her siblings that loved her dearly.
Joyce’s legacy lives on through her four children: Jerry Baker (Patsy), Bubba Baker (Sheila), Johnny Baker (Michelle), and Tammy Barnes (Brian). Through her children, she was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly and nurtured with her warmth and wisdom.
A devout Christian, Joyce found joy in her faith and in the blessings of family and friendship. She had a passion for traveling and especially loved trips to the mountains, where she found peace and beauty in the world around her. She spent her career serving children in the lunchroom at Florida High School and later went on to be a crossing guard loved by the community. Those who knew her will forever remember her grace, her laughter, and the unconditional love she shared.
Though Joyce has left this earth, her spirit remains in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on June 6, 2025 at Bible Believers Fellowship, 6341 Blountstown Highway Tallahassee FL, 32310.
