Mr. Anthony James Acain Sr.'s Obituary
Anthony, known as Tony lived life to the fullest with family and friends. He passed away unexpectedly on March 17, 2024.
Tony was predeceased by his parents, Edward Acain, Sr. and Lucy Ellen Akiona, and his brother, Edward Acain Jr. He is survived by his sisters Dolly Lamb (Tom) and Julie Southwick (Randy).
Tony was a devoted and loving husband for 39 years to Rebecca Jane Acain and a beloved father to Anthony James Acain Jr. (Shannon), Richard Sean Acain (Jamie with grandsons Kai and Orren) and Ellen Sable Acain. He was born in Maui, Hawaii and his family moved to San Jose, California area when he and his siblings were young. He moved to Tallahassee, Florida in 1988.
Tony worked in banking, accounting, other fields and was a business owner. He was an exquisite artist, fishing guru, beloved husband, cherished father and was a friend to all that knew him.
Tony loved his family, period. He will be absolutely missed by family and friends. He was a unique man with a great sense of humor, he was blunt and spoke his mind, he was grumpy and he was sweet, and special in too many ways to write. He would help anyone in need, day or night and he was generous. He could tell captivating stories and make you laugh so hard you cried. Animals and small children loved Tony. He caught so many snakes and once even at a favorite restaurant a few years ago (everyone clapped as he took it outside). Dragonflies were attracted to him.
Tony truly loved fishing. He taught family and friends how to fish; it was second nature to him. That man could catch some fish and he could fry it up in a pan too. He fished all over America and in numerous countries. He fished the oceans, ponds, lakes, reservoirs and rivers by the water’s edge, in the water and in a boat; he really enjoyed kayak fishing and had annual kayak fishing trips for decades. He once said “A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work” (and he was a hard worker). Additionally, he swam like a fish.
Tony luv’d gardening and yard work. He was a talented artist and his drawings are hung in many homes. He loved eating food: the savory and the sweet, snacking, eating at home, eating at restaurants, eating at friends’ houses, eating at relatives’ houses, traveling and eating while traveling (he liked extra snacking too). Tony really liked sitting by the water (his favorite) and sitting by the fire (Becky’s favorite) and together it was equally their favorite. He liked camping and oh how he liked his cars and fixing them up - especially his 1996 red Mustang. He liked watching movies and funny videos especially while eating. He enjoyed gambling in Vegas and Mesquite, depositing money and winning too. He was a game player and enjoyed playing board games, cards, COD zombies, and eating more snacks while doing so.
Tony will live on through the memories of those who loved him.
