Anne Elizabeth Wright's Obituary
Anne Elizabeth Wright, 72, passed away October 7, 2024, at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. She was born in Bartow, Florida, July 16, 1952, to Freddie Tucker and Orrin Hugh Wright, who predeceased her.
Anne attended Florida Presbyterian (now Eckerd) College in Saint Petersburg, Florida and later transferred to Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida where she obtained a degree in library science. Even though she never used this degree for employment, she had a strong interest in genealogical research as her family had been involved in this since 1895. She had not only a library in her home, but also a spare room dedicated to archives.
At the age of eight, Anne was planning to own a horse. She gave her family specific information regarding her plan, including the dimensions of the designated space for her future horse and at age 13, her plans were put into action. Anne’s husband, Robert, described Anne as “horse crazy”. During college, Anne sold her horse but became a horse owner again after college. At age 25, a significant event occurred, providing Anne with the opportunity she had dreamed about for so many years; to breed and raise quarter horses. Woodswell Farm was born, and Anne did what she loved the most!
Anne was a wonderful aunt; a caring and giving person. She was multi-talented, excelling in needlework; her first piece was completed when she and her husband were on their cross-country honeymoon. She continued this art for 40 years and became nationally competitive, winning awards at the National Convention of the American Needlework Guild. Anne also had a talent for quilting and finished over 100 quilts in a two-year period. Among her many talents, she also designed and built computers.
In addition to her parents, Anne was predeceased by her sister, Edith. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ralph W. Roberts; her sisters, Barbara Fite and Marian Wright; four nephews and a niece.
Anne was laid to rest in Glendale Memorial Nature Preserve, DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
