Angie came to Saratoga Springs many years ago and stayed with Barbara and Tom Bertino, my very dear friends who owned a Bed and Breakfast at that time called the Eddie House located within walking distance to Saratoga Race Track. The year would have to be the late 80's early 90's perhaps. Barbara always spoke fondly and gently boasted of meeting Angie Draper and hosting her at their B&B. As a young girl, growing up escaping into the Walter Farley Black Stallion series of horse books, I always admired her illustrations and would often try to copy her style of drawing back in the late 1960's. Reading of her death only recently (Tom was 97 and passed away last March) I would like to express my and Barbara's sincere sympathies to you her family on the loss of what was sure a very special spirit . Our sincere sympathies. You all should know that Angie had many young fans back in the early 70's when I was a young girl and soaking up her drawings in the books was always a special time. Barbara and Tom had two pieces of her artwork hanging in their living room. I will share a photo of Barbara and Tom and Tom's brother Joe and the beautiful horses hanging over their couch for so many years so proudly. God Bless all who loved Angie may her memory live on in those lives she touched. Sincerely, Faith Vittorio Fehr
