Alphia H. Stephens' Obituary
Alphia H. Stephens, 88, of Quincy, FL passed away on January 3, 2018.
Alphia spent most of her life in Gadsden County and graduated from Rabun Gap School in Rabun Gap, GA. She retired from the Florida Department of Insurance after 39 years. After retirement she served as secretary for the Salem United Methodist Church in Havana where she was also a member.
She was an avid golfer and secretary for many years at the Havana Country Club. She loved bird watching and animals of all kinds. Alphia was a loving, compassionate lady always willing to help others in need.
Survivors include three children, John W. Hancock, Jr. (Debra) of Quincy, FL; Donna Moore (Dan) of Tallahassee, FL; and Pamela Robinson (Dave) of Greensboro; her former husband and best friend, Craig Stephens of Havana; sister-in-law, Caroline Fallis; sister-in-law, Helen H. Caudell of Cumming, GA; niece, Nancy Sadler (Tommy); nephew, Clay Fallis (Sandy) all of Mt. Pleasant; nephew, Luke Keigans of Dade City, FL; nine grandchildren, Amy F. Phillips, Dawn Hancock, Stacy F. Stone, Kelly D. Shine, John William Hancock, Hugh (Trip) Davis, Ricklie D. Julian, Hilary Davis and Kate Moore; 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Lifesong Funeral Chapel (850.627.1111 or www.lifesongfunerals.com) in Quincy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, Big Bend Hospice or Gadsden County Humane Society.
