Alden Whitney France's Obituary
Alden Whitney France, 62, passed away on November 26 at Big Bend Hospice House.
Alden was a kind, gentle, gregarious, witty, talented bear of a man who could light up any room.
He was an incredibly gifted trumpet player and a mainstay in the Tallahassee Swing Band, Thursday Night Music Club, and Lofty Pursuits Community Marching Band. He had a broad sense of humor, a wry grin, and a ready quip. He was devoted to his family, friends, and bandmates.
Alden was born in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from the State University of New York (Oswego).
He retired from state service with the Office of Insurance Regulation.
Alden is survived by his daughter, Veronica (Chris), son, Bruce, sister, Mimi Scaliese (Mike),
brother Bob (Becky), and fiancee, Terry Golden. In Alden’s honor, we would encourage you to enthusiastically support the many local musicians who graciously share their talents. Those who wish to do something more tangible are encouraged to provide a donation to Big Bend Hospice, https://bigbendhospice.charityproud.org/Donate
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a future date.
