March 18, 1928 - November 20, 2015
Patricia Beckwith Tudor died on November 20th in Tallahassee surrounded by her family. Patty was born in Savannah, Georgia on March 18, 1928 and was raised in Tampa, FL. by loving parents and grandparents. She graduated from Plant High School in 1946 and attended Florida State University. On February 5th 1948 a mutual friend introduced her to a young staff sgt because he knew they loved to jitterbug. On March 5th, 1948 while riding a bus to Valdosta, Ga to meet his parents, Julian E “Boots” Tudor asked her to marry him. They stopped in Quitman, GA and married. That union, and their dancing, lasted over 64 years until his death in 2012. They travelled the world because of Boots’ army career. At each post, Patty would continue her education, and she finally graduated from Valdosta State College with a teaching degree. She taught school in both the Valdosta City and Lowndes County school systems for over 30 years. She found her love in PreK and Kindergarten classes, where all of her students were known as “people.” After retirement, she stayed involved by reading to PreK classes. She also continued the travelling she started with Boots. While he was content to stay home, she travelled the world with good friends, Joan Stewart and Nancy Curtiss or her granddaughters, sharing with them her love of history and adventure. Patty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Melanie Tudor and Mitchell Hall of Tallahassee, son, Julian(Trey) E Tudor, III, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, son and daughter in law, Edmund Beckwith Tudor and Tammy Corbett Tudor, son Michael Tudor and Susan Pendleton; her beloved grandchildren, Amy Beckwith Jordan and husband Scott of Tallahassee, Jonathon Chadwick Tillman of Tallahassee, Michelle Lynne Tudor of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ashley Tudor Fox of Montgomery, Alabama, Amanda Renee Tudor, Emma Grace Tudor of Valdosta and Joshua Edward Hall Tudor of Tallahassee; 3 great grandchildren, Emily Catherine Jordan, Zackery Elijah Jordan and Hannah Elizabeth Jordan, and a most precious great great granddaughter, Audree Elizabeth Yaney all of Tallahassee. She also enjoyed and loved her niece, Hunt Teasley Southerland, her nephews Timothy Teasley, Chris Teasley, Michael Teasley and their families. She is also survived by her other daughter Paula Ramey Martinez and two former daughters in law, Kathryn Tudor and Anne Salter Anderson, each whom she loved dearly. Services for Patty will be at Christ Episcopal Church, Valdosta on December 5th at 2pm. A reception will follow in the church parish hall.
