Faye McCoy Callaway

Faye McCoy Callaway went Home to the Lord at 92 years of age on March 16, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. Faye and her twin Allie were born on January 3, 1930 to Beulah Moore McCoy and Malcolm Daniel McCoy Sr. on the Johnson-Moore family homestead in Tallahassee where she lived her life with her parents, her mother’s brother Earl “Bubba” Moore, and five other siblings Thelma, Carl, Malcolm, Frank, and Betty Lou. Sadly her twin Allie died at age 3 from hemorrhagic fever. She graduated Leon High School in 1948. On June 16, 1951 Faye married Aaron Reeves Callaway, and settled on the family homestead where they raised their five children. Her family grew to include eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Children: Michael Callaway (Nettie). Nancy Quaney (Delbert). Susan Holzworth (Tom). Wayne Callaway. Paul Callaway. Grandchildren: Jodi Godwin (John), Jason Callaway (Niki). Stacy Johnson (Donnie), Forrest Quaney (Karen), Katie Quaney. Danny Holzworth. Jeremy Callaway, Shannon Callaway (Brett Litt). Great Grandchildren: Emily and Brian Godwin. Mallory, Jace, and Aaron Callaway. Ty and Delaney Johnson. Jessie, Amelia, and Kinsley Quaney. Danielle Holzworth. Great-Great Grandchildren: Madelyn Callaway. Carlee Holzworth She is survived by her brother Carl, sister Betty Lou, sister-in-law Laverne Callaway, and many nieces, nephews, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Aaron, sons Michael and Wayne, and siblings Thelma, Malcolm, Frank, and Allie. Faye had an unwavering faith in God which carried her through life’s trials. Her family was her life’s work and joy. She inspired us with her dedication to God and family. Faye was loving, caring, humble, patient, encouraging, kind-hearted, and generous. She loved spending time with her family walking on the beach, playing board and card games, and putting together puzzles. Faye and her sisters loved working on family genealogy. She learned the skills of cooking and sewing from her mother and taught those skills to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her fruitcake, divinity and fudge were legendary among family and friends. Faye’s family will miss her kind and loving presence, but rejoices knowing she is with her Heavenly Father and loved ones. Her memory will continue to inspire her family to live a faith-filled life. Faye’s family will gather at the family homestead to give honor and thanks for being blessed with such a remarkable woman. She will be laid to rest at the family homestead Johnson-Moore cemetery.
